Former vice president of the United States, Al Gore, has visited Tenerife. Bill Clinton visited both while president then twice since with Hilary Clinton. There are also rumors that Barack Obama, the new American President, is shortly due to visit Tenerife, in the footsteps of Bill Clinton and Al Gore. Tenerife President Ricardo Melchior said in an interview on February 6 2009 - “I hope so, but no date is planned yet. Bill Clinton together with Hilary are great Ambassadors for our island. Clinton was amazed at the possibilities available in Tenerife”
